Youth Group (grades 6-12)
Our Youth Group is a vibrant and vital part of the life of Holy Innocents’ Episcopal Church. Our youth ministries are open to all 6th-12th graders and our mission is to provide:
A safe place for Christian youth to come together and openly discuss their walk with God, the bible, and their personal experiences with no judgement and surrounded by others that share the same faith,
Opportunities for community outreach and serving others, and
Opportunities for students to build positive relationships with one another in fun and engaging ways.
If you would like to be an adult chaperone for any of our youth events, please email Morgan, our Youth Director. You must be trained in Safeguarding God’s Children. It is a short class that is taken online. Please contact Deacon Gary Cartwright and he will set you up with the website and the code you need to take the class. It’s free of charge.
“Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.”
– Proverbs 22:6

Youth Group Activities:
We have various activities each month. To stay up to date be sure to request to be on our email list at holyinnocentsyouthgroup@gmail.com
We have Youth Group Sunday School every Sunday morning between church services at 9:30 AM. We meet in the youth room and then transition to the Parish Hall to join our families and friends.
On Sunday evenings we gather for our Youth Group program. Middle School group is at 4:00 PM. Dinner and fellowship for all starts at 5:00 PM. A main course provided and potluck sides and desserts. High School group begins at 6:00 PM. Our studies include a month-long theme that we focus on to dig deeper into our faith and relationship with Christ, using multiple resources and small group discussions.
Wednesday nights the congregation gathers for The Gathering. This is an inter-generational evening of fellowship, worship, and study that invites anyone to attend and feel included. The lessons will be for three main age groups – young children, youth, and adults. We gather for dinner for the first portion of the evening and then transition to a lesson that correlates with our liturgical calendar, holding Eucharist once a month.

Ministries we are active with:
THORN – Thankfully Helping Others Real Needs – this is an organization which provides food for the homeless and working poor throughout the Tampa area. For this ministry we always need gently used clothing (especially for men), small toiletry items, and food donations for each outing (always announced prior to a day of ministry in the church publications).
kidsPACK – Provides food packs to children in need so that they have food on weekends when they are away from school. Holy Innocents’ packs food bags every other week at church, then delivers them to a local school.
Family Promise – A local non-profit that aids local homeless families by giving a safe place to stay in churches while they secure jobs and homes. Holy Innocents’ is one of a network of churches in the Brandon area who take a week every few months to house and feed families.
Angel Tree Foundation – At Christmastime, we buy gifts for kids in the Angel Tree program, which helps the children incarcerated parents.
Adopt-A-Family – We “adopt” families that are in need during the Christmas season to provide gifts for the children.
Diocesan Events We Attend:
New Beginnings (middle school) – This diocesan event is a weekend retreat at DaySpring Episcopal Conference Center for youth in grades 6-8.
Happening (high school) – This weekend retreat is also held at DaySpring, but it’s for all high-schoolers, grades 9-12.
